'There are Fairies in the Gutter' is Ursula's first original song and story set which heralds a number of real unsung heroes, the likes of which will resonate with all as they are familiar to so many. The theme of the collection follows that inspiration may be found anywhere and that those dear unlikely 'fairies' who once informed our childhood will always be accessible to us through memory. You would sit by the wall at the edge of our school yard, The lads they would taunt you to preve they were well hard, In defence you would fight, chase 'em to kingdom come, 'Til Margret said "Ratboy, you're done!" (Chorus) Ratboy O' Boy, what are you doin' now? Are you workin' down Tesco? Is your Mrs a cow? Did you get out of Fishmoor? Are you still on the run? Ratboy I hope that you've won. Well you were picked by our teacher to race the cross country. In that cobbled up kit, man, you looked like a monkey. You shook on the line, even jumped at the gun! 'Til somesaid "Ratboy, just run!" (That was me) (Chorus) About half an hour later this straggly figure, Flew round t' race track towards us never gettin' much bigger. We all stood incredulous. This couldn't be done? 'Til Norman said "Ratboy, you've won!" (Chorus)
7.
(Chorus) Love can find you anywhere, in a war zone, in a bog. If your Dad gets rid of your Prince Charmin' you could Fall head over heels in love with the frog! Love can find you anywhere, but you've got to open your heart. So mend it and fix it and stick it with glue. Make a brand new start. Well I went and found love in my landscape, In the eyes of a shabby old dog. I went and found it in dancing, in story and song, In running the cross country and God. I went and found it in the memories of the kids I once knew And in the young boy / girl I used to be. I went and found it down t' market hold of my Grandma's hand And with tramps who like fudge cake and tea! (Chorus)
